| Welcome!
To the website of the Bahá'ís of Long
Island, New York
Who Are the Bahá'ís?
We are people with hopes and
dreams, with character strengths and weaknesses. We are struggling
daily with life’s challenges. We come from diverse racial,
cultural, religious, educational, and economic backgrounds. We are
women and men, young and old. We live in over 127,000 localities
throughout the world.
Why
Have We Become Bahá'ís?
For many of us, our search for meaning
in life led us to the
Bahá'í
Faith. Not only did the
Bahá'í
Faith
make sense to us, but it touched our hearts as well. We discovered a loving, supportive Baha'i community with teachings that educated and channeled our efforts to become nobler people.
We
recognized that the
Bahá'í Faith is the latest in a series of Divine
Revelations sent by God to humanity over the centuries and that its
teachings are particularly relevant to today’s world. Most
importantly, it has imparted a fresh infusion of spiritual power
into the world to transform humanity in order to create a just and
peaceful world civilization.
What Is
the Bahá'í Faith?
Among the principles which the Bahá'í Faith promotes are:
the oneness of humanity
the oneness of religion
the elimination of all forms of prejudice
the equality of women and men
